Hi BigA I am flying into Heathrow Fri morn at 11:05am.
I will go directly to the club from there.
I should be there around 12 - 12:30.
If you want to meet me there that would be fine.
You can email my thealmosthip account as well.

Not a full review (Not yet) but all I can tell you folks...second song of the encore, a hush falls over the crowd...and what do they bust out? "Pretend"...

Tooooo good folks, too good...an incredible show tonight, it's gonna be a good tour...

Spoke briefly with Gord Sinclair after the show, he said it was Downie's idea t'play Pretend...but yeah, great show, highlights included Lionized, We'll Go Too, and maybe the best Music@Work I've ever heard...

Some of the other dudes'll have a better review, but yeah, onto Belgium tomorrow...

Can someone help out a big fan who's apparently not as big a fan as he thought he was?

What's "Pretend"? New song? old unreleased gem? I'm lost here.

EDIT: Hey, look! A search tool!

Nevermind.

Thanks -

C'mon boys! Get out of the taverns! Give us some deets! (unless you are sleeping, as it is 4:18 there now, or unless your travelling).
What did they open with? My stomach says "Fiddlers Green". Thats obviously wrong, as stomachs don't talk.

Also, what does "Pretend" sound like? is it a more acoustic song? or is in another hard rocker like the previous tracks from the soon-to-be-released CD? Do tell....

Pretend was the highlight of the night, for my fiance and me. It was the quietest song of the night. I guess you could call it acoustic - the boys still played electric instruments, but I bet on the album it will be acoustic. My only complaint is that it is too good to be so short...I think it was just two verses and two choruses (verse-chorus-verse-chorus).

Some of the lyrics that I can remember are...
If I ask you a question
Are you gonna lie to me?
Was that the question?
......
I can't pretend
Yes I can
Yes I cannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Paul sings backup beautifully....I can't wait for the new album. I only wish we got to hear Drop Off.

I thought Ocean was a really great, catchy song, with potential to be a great single.

That's good to hear! I was hoping they'd play that!

My first TTH show, and I was not disappointed! The sound was a bit muffled in parts where we were standing, but that didn't detract from the atmosphere! Great crowd!

Highlights for me included Courage, Bobcaygeon straight into Nautical Disaster (two of my favourites back-to-back! :D), At The Hundredth Meridian - Amazing live!, Music @ Work and many others. I also really enjoyed some of the songs I was less familair with, especially Lionized!

I really hope I get to catch these guys again. Such a great night!

This was my third time seeing the Hip, and my second in London. It's good seeing them off their home turf, because it means a smaller venue (in this case, the Shepherd's Bush Empire).

As always, they rocked. The house was full of amped-up Canucks, and we enthused along with the sound of our heritage. I see they've been switching up the songs a lot each night, and tonight we got (I think these are all right, but they're definitely not quite in order):

Don't Wake Daddy
Gift Shop
Courage
Gus: The Polar Bear From Central Park
At The Lonely End Of The Rink
Lionized
Nautical Disaster
Ocean
Bobcaygeon
Ahead By A Century
We'll Go Too
It's A Good Life If You Don't Weaken
Summer's Killing Us
At The Hundredth Meridian
Springtime in Vienna
Blow At High Dough
My Music At Work
Poets
Pretend
Little Bones

Thanks for the full setlist, tdickin. :D I remember Nautical Disaster came straight after Bobcaygeon. Other than that, I can't remember much of the order.

You're not the ocean was in there too...

I think the quote was 'One thing I realise about you all is that you're not the ocean'

Once I have spent some time with my family, I will try to do a better rememberance of the night.
