I thought the performance was ok, except it seemed that the harmonica was a bit loud and kinda overshadowed the Hip themselves. Otherwise it was a fairly textbook performance.

The harmonica was probably supposed to drown out the weak mix the guitars were getting, that was a bad hip performance and Im a huge fan...I think maybe blame the soundguys or Gords screaming over the harmony I dont know he really seems to try to steal the show these days....Mr. Baker was hiding in the back maybe he was ashamed at how bad the soundguys had his guitar tweaked I dont really know.

Exactly. Since when is the LEAD GUITAR mixed that low. That was a terrible job by whomever was responsible.

They are having all kinds of troubles now with the sound!!!!! So why did they switch soundguys for the hip and the end of the show the other guys had it dialed in!!!!!
so it wasnt all the hips fault

I just got in from the show, and live The Hip sounded great. They got the loudest cheer of any of the bands, and while Pink Floyd were playing on the screens, the crowd started in with a "Hip, Hip, Hip" chant.

This chant was continued after they finished their set.

I was there too. The sound at the show was perfect. I have been to many shows and these 3 songs were up there with the best of their performances. I guess the sound didn't translate too well to TV. So, ha to all you people that said they would rather watch from the couch! Great times! The whole thing was very well organized. No traffic, no lines, awesome!!

Bah, I can't believe I missed this! The Hip and Blue Rodeo are over, and I flick on the TV to see Simple Plan.

Okay, BTO came out after, followed by BNL. At least it wasn't a total waste.

just got home, show was awesome...got to see baker up close during the early afternoon and he posed for pics, and downie waved to us when we called him for pics...classy bastards as always! Nice to see sinclair with his (son?), taking up sidestage for a few acts...
they sounded like they usually do live, which is awesome....no microphone stand issues for Gord today...no good life either, which I thought was a lock..and playing BEFORE dmc? wtf???

Miraculously I got tickets on Friday and was able to go. I tried to move in closer to see the hip's performance and you could sence the excitement in the air before the boys even came onto stage, there were small hip chants before they even came out. When Dan Akroyd introduced the boys the place went crazy and stayed that way for the next 3 songs. They definately got the biggest ovation of the day. It was great to see Dan Akroyd perform with the boys. All in all a great day.

Ya, I wasn't terribly impressed with it either. A mediocre Hip showing at best. The guitars were mized terribly and Gord was definitely promoting the cause, but the songs themselves didn't do much for me.
