That said, I had tickets to this show as a couple of my Europe trip friends couldn't make it to the show - although I always hope for good shows, I really don't want to hear that I missed something great by staying in Toronto this evening.

Sorry.
it was just a joke...
And I honestly could care less about post counts... I used to think they were important about a year ago, but now I've learned it doesn't at all, and that everyone is welcome hear no matter what their count is. And you don't have to really care, I'm not really asking anyone to. Sorry that this is off the topic at hand.
Hope it was fun. Once again, sorry.

Hey All,
Just got back from the show, great atmosphere tonight. Sadies were alright, and the Weakerthans were pretty good, although they saved their slower songs for the end of the set which kind of made it drag a little.
Here are some of the Hip songs, in random order.
-Springtime in Vienna led off the set
-New Orleans is Sinking
-Nautical Disaster
-Grace, Too
-Gus ("What's troubling Gus, is troubling us")
-Lionized
-Lonely End of the Rink (this one is growing on me)
-100th Meridian
-ABAC
-Last of the Unplucked Gems (great long intro, Gord was actually offstage for most of it)
-Gift Shop
-Oceans
-Fire in the Hole
-Blow At High Dough
-Poets
-Bobcaygeon (awesome as usual)
-Heaven Is A Better Place Today (Dedicated to poor Ty from the P.E.I. show, where he warned the crowd of the dangers of drinking and driving)
-Summer's Killing Us
Was a good time. A great lightning show for most of the night, which would draw a cheer from the crowd every time it flashed. Started to rain during 100th Meridian (near the end of the first set, I believe) but didn't really come down too hard.
Gord was bouncing all over the place as usual and the band seemed to be having a good time. Gord and Paul shared a couple of jokes that got them laughing, but I must say Gord did not rant often.
My brain is mush right now, maybe someone can join in and fill in the blanks and give a more accurate setlist in it's proper order as I'm probably missing a song or 2 in there somewhere.

Good show, although there was a scare about the weather earlier in the day. The thunderstorms we'd had worked out pretty cool though, as lightning danced throughout the night without it raining until the end and barely at that.
The venue was great. It's pretty far, but totally secluded with woodsy mountain scenery and lots of space. The Sadies and the Weakerthans kicked it off pretty well, and the Hip didn't disappoint. They opened with Springtime in Vienna then launched into NOIS.
Approximate setlist:
Springtime
NOIS
Gus
Lonely end of the rink
Grace, too
Summer's Killing
ABAC
You're not the Ocean
Lionized
Nautical Disaster
Giftshop
Bobcaygeon
Don't wake Daddy
Gems
Poets
Meridian
Fire in the Hole
Heaven is a better placE
Pretend
Blow
Something like that..

This was a great show. The two highlights of this show for me were when Gordie yelled "ARE YOU READY FOR WAR??" Everyone in the crowd yelled "Hell Yeah" and Gordie came back with "Yeah, Niether am i" LOL Also another highlight is when Gordie was saying that the microphone was poisonous. I love how Gordie's rants make you think. Also this was my girlfriends first hip show which made it all so much better. We had a great time and i think we have another hiphead on board LOL. Thanks GO HIP!

Great show all around. The crowd was into it, but not out of control. Funniest part of the night was during "Summer's Killing Us." Suddenly, this guy and girl push up to where I am standing quite close to the stage. Up she goes on the shoulders and soon enough we have a "bare-breasted woman." Gord D. finally notices her and lifts up his shirt back at her. Pretty funny.
I was kind of worried about the weather, that they might call the show. Looks like the crew was telling the band about the storm, but it stayed away.
Why did Gord chuck the mic at one point? I think it was during 100th Meridian. He went back over and picked it up. Maybe he pulled the cord out. He looked pissed that's for sure.

Yeah, I edited my post. Pretend came right before Blow, I remember that 'pretending' was like the acting he's referring to when he says 'I ain't no movie star..' I'm pretty sure they're two different songs, though, Pretend is about the question ("If I ask you a question, are you going to lie to me?") and Ocean has the title as the chorus (and so does Pretend).nnyvt wrote:i think the last set list posted looks real accurate except i thought pretend was actually you're not the ocean. could be wrong but that is my recollection. solid show.
I like relating to the rants, too, I liked the poisonous mic part a lot. Fire in the hole was really something, too, the lightning during was so cool (I was sitting with the stage to my left and the mountains right behind it, the lightning was practically beside the stage). Heaven is a better place is my new favourite song..
