Any Lethbridgers out there?

Are there any decent pubs within walking distance of the Enmax center?

Four Strong Winds? WOW...

I wonder if we'll get Helpless on Monday -- "There is a town in North Ontario..."

Or maybe even Draft Dodger :)

Cheers,

Pat

Four Strong Winds is an Ian and Sylvia song originally, I believe. It's probably one of the more frequently covered Canadian tunes (up there with Joni's "River")

Neil's version from Comes A Time is probably the most well known. The Cash version is just brilliant though.

Cheers,

Pat

Yeah, the Ian Tyson tune. The dude from the sadies was on violin.

I tried to tape the show, but I buggered it up, I think I only got the first few.

They also played locked, I forgot to put that one into the last part of the set.

The setlist, in order (edited, now correct):

1. The Lonely End of the Rink
2. New Orleans Is Sinking
3. Grace, Too
4. The Dire Wolf
5. The Drop Off
6. Bobcaygeon
7. In View
8. Twist My Arm
9. Escape Is At Hand For The Travellin' Man
10. World Container
11. Springtime In Vienna
12. At The Hundredth Meridian
13. It's A Good Life If You Don't Weaken
14. The Kids Don't Get It
15. Nautical Disaster
16. Wheat Kings
17. Yer Not The Ocean
18. Locked In The Trunk Of A Car
19. Fire In The Hole
---
20. Four Strong Winds
21. Family Band
22. Blow At High Dough

Thanks to elliot g for help with the setlist!

Lake Fever was played during the soundcheck - I know because they were ripping through it when I picked up my tickets. Unfortunately human necessities (eating, drinking, and peeing) prevented me from loitering longer in the lobby.

As has already been noted, Travis Good came up and played fiddle during Four Strong Winds. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. That was right up in my top Hip experiences, up there with hearing Montreal a few years back. You know, those spine-tingling moments where some inner voice says (and rightly so) - "Do everything you can to soak this up, because you'll never hear this again".

That was my 41st show, and the closest I ever came to getting a setlist. Some quite attractive young lady was standing right next to me, and when a security guy grabbed the setlist, he looked up to see her and I vying for his attention.

Needless to say, she got the setlist. I got a copy of the chord progression for Dire Wolf, which is pretty cool.

For those who haven't seen the Sadies and have tickets for an upcoming show... don't be one of those losers who stands outside the beer stand until two minutes before the Hip come out. Make an effort to catch the Sadies' set - you won't be disappointed. They kick ass! That's the fifth time I've seen them, and every time I'm amazed at their talent.

J.

Dire and Escape, nice.
gambler wrote:NOTE: For the third song, I can't read my own writing. It looks like I wrote Grace, but I also have that for the 15th song. I *may* have been slightly tipsy. I have no idea what the hell is going on... anyone else write down the setlist?
Somebody posted that they did Nautical, and since you didn't mention that and they're from the same album, that'd be my guess.

I was listening to the recording I made, and the first grace too is right, but the second was nautical.

Also, pretend wasn't played, it was world container.
