Highlights for me were definitely Pigeon and Daredevil. I think I've only heard each one time before in 24 shows. And Daredevil was my request, which is even better! When I chatted with Sinclair after the free Philly show today I asked him if they could play it in any of the next 3 shows. He said, yeah will do, that's a good one. So I was VERY happy to hear it tonight!
Had a great time with people I met at the earlier show today, and who were all in Lancaster. Can't wait for tomorrow night but it will be hard to top the 2 shows today.

Sounds solid.
Yet again, I am jealous of your ability to travel! I can't wait until I can!
In the meantime, I should start a countdown to the Fredericton show.
And next time you chat with them, tell them Sean Bonner says hello.
They should know who you mean

Sinclair is one of the nicest guys you could meet. They played two shows in LA in ‘02 and while chatting after the 1st show I told him my buddy was heading to Korea for a 12 month teaching gig and he was going to be at the show the following night. I asked if they could play IOD for him, and while sipping his beer he said, “Sure”. It goes without saying he remembered my request.

While waiting to get in the guy in front of me asked one of the security guys how many tickets had been sold and he said approx 300. Someone else said that a lot of AC shows have trouble drawing people for some reason, and those that do come tend to be late arrivals. Seemed to be hardly anyone there when the Constantines did their set. There were definitely some comps given out by the Showboat casino, because a woman behind me had one. She had no clue what she was going to see, thought it was a play! I have no idea if she stuck around or not. But yes, it was very nice not to have to be shoved and pushed all night.NegPhil wrote:Mikea wrote:It needs mentioning that there were probably less than 200 people at this show. It was a refreshing treat to not be bumped and pushed all night. As well as no late-comers pushing thier way to front row.
Why so few people? Was that by design or lack of ticket sales?

The crowd was disapointing in terms of numbers, but I thought they were enthusiastic. Another cool thing from the show was Gord Downie asking the crowd if anyone had a jacket he could borrow. He said he felt like he was at the end of a dock at night in wet clothes. The House of Blues has a huge ceiling and it was fairly chilly inside. He ended up wearing some girl's peacoat for the majority of the show

For years The Hip have been playing an instrumental "jam" before Daredevil.DWarner wrote:What was the instrumental bit to lead off the encore? Gord said something about taking us all to Niagara Falls.
This is often refered to as Hiccups, because when they first started doing this back about 1995 Gord sang the "Hiccups" lyrics.
He no longer sings those lyrics - or very many for that matter - but this is still usually called Hiccups.

Yes the crowd (numbers) was very disappointing but a major BONUS for those at the show! While I would also agree with the head count of 200, it is very possible that was a generous figure. I also agree that the crowd that was there tried like hell to show their appreciation
To the bands credit, they could have so easily “phoned one in” and they did not! Bobby Baker appeared to be on some kind of mission and was much more animated on stage than I recall at other shows. The Hip delivered a spectacular show and real nice, diverse setlist.
This show became an “instant classic” for me ranking right up there with the Wetlands (NYC) shows back in 98 and the 96 Philly show (my first) as the best I have ever seen!
After seeing them last night in Philly to a packed house, I realized how truly lucky I was to see this intimate event!
PS - I thought the sound at HOB was awesome!
