I came damn close to going to this one, but I'm a few dollars short on my summer budgeting, so no dice. As kickass as this would have been, it's not happening for me, unless there's a miracle!

Shame, man. This show, and the Lancaster show the following day are a bit of a "Graduation" gift t'myself, and I'm curious if there's gonna be anyone else in attendance, or how big these two are gonna be at all...

im going. went to this place in 98... GREAT room. old casino right on the ocean. large room, plenty of space.

in 98 some "dancers [strippers]" got up during so hard done by... and the doulbe encore was a show stopper!!!

hope it goes that well this tour.

its also an off market gig, meaning not a major city, but rather an outside of the boston market show... could actually be a great show!!

hope you all can make it.

Oh yeah... I forgot to mention this, but there are a few Hipbaser's here that can attest to this:

Back when the Club Dates were released with no Maritime dates, I was a tad... uh... devestated. Rumours were buzzing about an American tour in the spring.
Anyways, I emailed about 5 venues in New Hampshire and Maine (Portsmouth Music Hall, Bangor Auditorium, Portland State Theatre, The Dana Centre [I think that's what it's called] in Manchester, and the Casino Ballroom) with a quick write up about the Hip and a brief history (Multiple junos... sold-out ACC show is their DVD) and whatnot, along with some information regarding their booking agents.

I heard back from two venues (Portsmouth and Bangor). Portsmouth said that their venue was too small for The Hip (even though they played there in 1996), and Bangor Auditorium said that they aren't booking too many acts due to fundraising for major renovations.

And then they announced a date at Hampton Beach Casino... one of the venues I emailed. I then got an e-mail back about two weeks after the announcement saying basically 'Thanks for the information, you get free tix if you want them'.

By then, other life happenings made me unable to attend the show for April 21st.

Oh well... bring on the maritime dates!!!

I'm still trying to get to this show - free tix? I realize they're only $19.50 each but it would be a shame to waste free tix

I allready told them I wasn't going, but I just e-mailed them back asking if the ticket offer was still on the table. I'll tell you when/if I hear back from them.

I just read a review where it said Downie fell off the stage.
What happened?

it was a very interesting show. i think this was at the very beginning, he was twirling around and feel into gord s mic stand, and then fell off the stage and i think ended up in the gutter. He also willingly jumped into the pit 2 other times, to give handkerchiefs to people (one of which was a little girl i think)

the 100th rant was similar to boston where he laid back on the mic stand, with rag over his face. this time he just kept reaching out in the dark, finally did this whole thing with his breath , puffing the handkercheif out with each breath, off his face... only those up close could see...no broken mic stand or baton twirling like boston the night before. no motorcylce riding either. Boston was insane, he tookt the mic cord and wrapped it around his neck and then girated his neck like a hula hoop and the mic wrapped around tighter and tighter and smacked him in the face. Then he later took the cord and was doing these huge spirals with the cord, very cool. that was blow i think. he was way more animated and visual in boston (smaller stage) than hampton, he was more in control all night. although in hampton there was the suckling the breast bit which was pretty damn cute too.

two great shows. boston blew me away though. he was on fire. sick sick sick.

Dire Wolf and Thugs? Those who were in attendance are lucky! Is there a full, confirmed setlist anywhere?
