1979 by the pumpkins was great this show was much tighter than the Rochester show i attended thursday night

I would have to disagree with the term "flicking the mic into the crowd".

I would have to agree that Gordie was in rare form, at least for the 100th Meridian. He had a bra covering his eyes, like a blindfold, for at least 5 minutes, and I'm pretty sure he could not actually see. And he decided that blindly firing the mic into the crowd was a good idea. I think he probably thought the cord would keep it from going into the crowd. He was wrong, the mic flew off the the cord, into the crowd and hits me directly above the left eye! It was actually pretty funny!

All in all, it was a good show.

I'm sure 1979 and Can't Explain will be available quite soon

1. Family Band
2. NOIS

After these 2 songs my brother turns to me and says "OK, I'm good, we can go." :)

Fantastic show, sound was really good, I of course had the tallest living man standing in front of me. Had a great view of his sholder blades.

Gord's "goggles" were great. 1979 was a really good cover. Sabres lost but I forgot all about it about 5 minutes later when they took the stage.

Gord did mention something about "see you in the Spring?"... :jump

Something to look forward too, especially since Atlanta's not on the agenda.
Ah but Atlanta, Houston, Dallas and Austin are on the agenda

not one of my favourite shows. it could quite possibly be drunken
(mis)perception, but i just felt gord played too much gee-tar last night.
(read...didn't go hog wild as per often.)

i went in kinda ticked off as me and my buddy wanted to get some eats...popped into the venue to grab our will-call tickets (were gonna go eat/drink down the street) and then were told we weren't allowed to leave...so we were stuck there for hours drinking over-priced beer etc.

stuck drinking $3.50 bottles when, for example, TGIFs had two for one pints ... yah, that does suck.

A more elaborate review later.
But for now:
The bra that was thrown on the stage in Rochester and again Saturday in Buffalo was from the same girl.
I went to the Hamilton show with her and when she saw Gord "making love to the bra" (her words) she was determined to have him do it to hers.
So in Rochester on Thursday she threw her bra up there - and she could not stop talking about it - so again Saturday she went up front and did it again. It has been her highlight of the three night stand we just completed. She is totally Gord Downie obsessed.
She was standing in front of Paul and said that the guy next to her was taping from the front row - he recorded her taking the bra off and throwing it up there - he said he is going to post it on Youtube. Nothing graphic - so get your mind out of the gutters.

About two years ago Downie was in Maxim magazine listing his top ten songs.
1979 was on that list:

Special Thank You to the bouncer that told the security guard I was his brother and let me and my fiance in the show. Payed less than face value and only missed a few songs. I have to admit though, seeing half of the Sabres at the game made me wonder if they really wanted to tie the score against NJ and force OT....hmmm.....I hope they are still remembering how much fun they had if they lose the one seed.
