Your crush on Bonner is really quite cute. Too bad you live on the other side of the country, or we might have Hipbase Romance #2!

2 more days! Anybody else from Cowtown heading down for this gig? I'm really looking forward to the Constantines, the New Pornos, Matt Good, and of course, the almighty Hip. City & Colour might be worth checking out as well, if only for the possibility that Gord might make an appearance on stage with Dallas Green to sing "Sleeping Sickness". I'm thinkin' there's an excellent chance of that happening.

Face to face was by far the best band on Saturday. FYI, when Corb Lund was on I went to the second stage to watch Crash Parallel, and it was TERRIBLE. All their songs were introduced by a lesson in life or love... it was the defintion of corny crap rock. Worse bad ever.
Looking forward to City & Colour, Matt Good and the Hip tonight!

Living next to the concert site does have its privileges.

Setlist:
-- Yer Not the Ocean
-- My Music at Work
-- Grace, Too
-- The Drop-Off
-- 'It's A Good Life If You Don't Weaken'
-- Ahead by a Century
-- In View (note: the next few songs might be out of order, and a song or two might be missing...although I don't think I'm missing anything)
-- Gift Shop
-- Courage
-- World Container
-- Long Time Running
-- Poets
-- Bobcaygeon
-- Springtime in Vienna
-- Nautical Disaster (back in order now)
-- Fully Completely
-- Family Band
-- New Orleans is Sinking
-- Lonely End of the Rink (encore)
-- Wheat Kings (encore)
-- At the Hundredth Meridian (encore)

Good show, surprisingly good audience (for the most part, anyway). Too tired to think, let alone write; more to come later!

QUICK UPDATE: after looking at last night's setlist, I'm thinking this one was identical save 100M > Blow. In which case, flip the order of the middle few songs and we're good to go. :thumb:

Pretty good show..first off, gord did join Dallas for Sleeping Sickness, to much audience approval...Other than that, pretty good show, Grace was top notch, as was meridian and Wheat Kings....I even sported the Hipbase T ( thanks again Lance!)
The audience was ok, lots of drunk party guys plowing through the crowd, and the most annoying chick behind me I think I've ever had at a show...

Just back from Virgin Fest. Great show! The Hip were awesome as usual. The setlist was a little too 'greatest hits' for my liking, but hey, it's a festival gig, so I'm not complaining. "The Drop Off" is my new favorite live Hip song. They really went balls-to-the-wall on that one. The Constantines were amazing, City & Colour were better than expected, Stars bored me to tears, which was somewhat disappointing as I've always heard good things about them. Matthew Good on the other hand was excellent. It had been a long time since I'd seen him live, and I thought he was very good. Not to mention his band was top-notch. Looks like he's put on a little weight, but it suits him fine. Gord came out on stage twice earlier in the day. First with the Constantines to sing "Do What You Can Do", and then later with City & Colour for "Sleeping Sickness". The crowd went absolutely bananas each time he came out, causing Dallas Green to say "Maybe we should've saved that for the last song." All in all it was a fantastic day of music, the weather was beautiful, and the crowd was surprisingly well-behaved for a festival show. A couple of idiots tried to crowd surf during Matt Good and the Hip, but that didn't last too long. By all accounts, a great time was had by all.

Weird, I didn't notice any of that going on. Where were you standing?

That was my experience, too. In between Matthew Good and the Hip I texted a friend of mine to say, "This is gonna be a BRUTAL crowd," but then nothing too out-of-the-ordinary transpired beyond a litte cramped-ness, a few failed crowd surfs and one fight which resulted in handcuffs being deployed. I was pleasantly surprised, especially given my other outdoor TTH experiences.

btw, if you saw anyone limping around the festival site with a walking cast on his left foot...that was me! Broken ankles are awesome!!

I was stage left, about 35 feet back....this hammered chick kept pushing my wife forwards, even though there was no place to go forwards and there was no one crowded behind her, then she started fist pumping, half of which were connecting with me, so I gave her a couple of stink eyes, and after that when she would connect, she was even worse because she would get all playful and try to talk to me, about how she was helping me "enjoy" the concert by getting into it.....and then she asked me to help launch her 200+ pound boyfriend over the crowd...
