Brainstorm: ReListen. net / Phish.in

Post by sean.bonner »

Just brainstorming... because I hate this torrented archive we are currently using.

What would / does it take for us to get a Hip boots site going like Relisten or Phish.in?

Check out these sites: https://phish.in/

https://relisten.net/

I am not a coder or software engineer or anything, so I have no clue how to go about something like this, but hot damn, these sites are perfect for throwing on audience recordings.

Anybody have any ideas or input?

Unless I'm mistaken, relisten.net is just a front-end for streaming shows uploaded to archive.org. If that's the case, the quickest way with the least amount of work (and zero cost) would be to get the Hip to allow recordings to be posted to archive.org. Problem solved.

I think there have been a couple attempts to make this happen over the years, but it has probably been a decade since the last efforts were made, and they were ignored at the time.

I'd love for a better site to exist for bootlegs. I'm currently one of the four seeders on the FLAC bootleg torrent. I have lots of excess storage, computing power and bandwidth for this or another site, but what I don't have is a lot of time to actually build something better. I'd also be willing to donate to the cause.

We used to have the Hip Tracker. I'm not sure the history as to why it fell apart. The internet is a very different place now in terms of being able to easily host and stream audio and video content. I'm sure a torrent-less solution would be possible now like those linked sites.
