Anyone using video to record shows? Recommendations on setup

I'm looking to buy a video camera of some sort and also throwing around the idea of video taping live Hip shows. Anyone have any recommendations on a camera brand or model or things to look for pros/cons etc. Please let me know.

I have/use a Sony Digital 8 Camcorder (TRV740).
It's very nice, and pretty easy to use!

Great camera, use to video tape, take still pictures. : )

Thanks for the link and videos. GREAT picture..bad sound

mic couldnt handle the bass by the sound of it. Too bad. Wonder if there is a way around that. Must be.

Yah! Get an external mic!
Well i got one, tried it at the Darien Lakes show.
It souns amazing!!! : )
Definatly an external "Directional" mic........

Hi hipfan39, do you have a video of the Darien Lake show?? If so, please throw me an email ([email protected]). I really loved that show, we were in section 101 row 8, and would really like to have something to look back on. The band was great all night long. I have the audio already but a video would be absolutely amazing!

Yah i taped it from Section 102 (row 5).
It came out awsome, the sound was perfect, and picture is sweet.
But the bad news is, by mistake i recorded the first 3.5 songs to memory stick on my camcorder. Meaning (it shrinks the picture, so its realy small).
But the rest of the show i got on tape, and like i said before, came out amazing........
I am gonna look into something, cause i wanna fix this, as it's my best recording so far..........
