I saw Pearl Jam at the Vic two years ago--it's a helluva good venue. Enjoy, everyone. Any especially "meaningful" local songs other than "Depression Suite," by the way? I can't think of any off-hand...

I think Escape is about a lad from Chicago.

They always seem to play escape when in Chicago. At least the last several shows anyway.

There's probly a reasonable chance they'll play Meridian and replace Buffalo with Chicago, if that counts.

Carry on.

Here's the list - many not in order (I'm guessing). Definite slots are numbered:

1. Depression
2. Poets
3. Daddy
Fireworks, Exact, Gift, View, Recluse, ABAC
10. Drop
11. Love

1. Thompson - a
2. Courage - a
3. Scared - a
Moon, Ocean, Grace, Speed, Bobc
9. Struggle
10. Escape
11. NOIS
12. Music

1. Coffee
2. Locked

Depression was my favorite new tune played. I also lilked the between songs banter. Johnny did not have his African drum set-up for the acoustic songs - maybe there wasn't room for them in the truck? He had something like a kick drum, floor tom, reg tom, and two cymbals. Gord said that Johnny mentioned this was the first time the four guys sat and Johnny stood for songs.

Good, solid show, but imo, too many 'A' songs in this setlist - 12 of them (I've ranked all songs on albums from A - D or N for new, A being the hits, casual fan favorites, concert staples, B being tunes expected sometimes, C being rarities, might be played every so often, D being songs I didn't think had a chance - deep vault).

This setlist was 8 N, 12 A, 4 B, 0 C, 1 D (Thompson!). Actually, the last four setlists have had 12 A songs. Hopefully, Wed we get a few less A's and more of the others - something like 4/27 or 4/29.

Wow.

Not a great show. This was my 17th show. The band seemed out of sync. Robbie's guitar was barely audible at times and he seemed a bit surly.

This setlist was just awful. It needs to be burned. I find it surprising that while the band attempts to try new things in the studio they bring out such a stale mix for a live performance. I thought Paul was going to fall asleep during NOIS.

A word about the keyboardist: Please lose him.

Geez.

A good buddy of mine went to the show last night. He is a casual fan and was pretty stoked at so many "hits" in the setlist. While we/I might not be too fired up about the setlist, he dug it. He also added the mix was muddy and GD's vocals were barried a bit. He thought it was relative to where he was in the venue though.....

Probably where he was. I thought the mix was pretty good (from center on the first stepped up part of the floor level).

This night being my third time seeing them, I was happy that I knew so many songs. I can understand why more longtime fans were disappointed. I was in the front row of the balcony, dead center and I thought it sounded good until the encore. Gord played with a different bass and it muddied the mix and was much louder than his previous bass.

Nice intro to Escape mentioning not only Jim Ellison but recently deceased ex-Wilco member Jay Bennett.

The one annoying thing to me were people close to the front who seemed to be taking more pictures of the band than watching the show. A few pictures are fine, but c'mon people! In fact, I think Gordon was mocking them as Bobcaygeon came to a close and he'd walk toward people, strumming and holding his guitar out at them so they could get the perfect shot. He was saying something to them that seemed like "cheese" or "this is for you". Odd.

Great show though. I enjoyed it.

He did the same kind of thing at one of the Massey shows where he was teaching everyone the chords he was playing - holding the guitar out so everyone could see his A-minor and so on.
He aimed up to the gallery and seemed to shout his chords to them - very comical.
