The show tonight was amazing! I recorded the entire show, but i haven't listened back yet, so I can't provide the entire set list. But here's what I remember, despite the incredibly annoying security and 'rules' at the SOFA here in Victoria:

in no particular order:

The Depression Suite (first song)
Giftshop (second song)
Now The Struggle has a Name
In View
Thompson Girl
Wheat Kings (Johnny Fay was KILLER on percussion)
Coffee Girl
Morning Moon
Love is a First
Frozen in my Tracks
Thugs
Gus the Polar Bear
New Orleans is Sinking (Victoria is Sinking :)
Springtime in Vienna
100th Meridian
Blow at High Dough
Courage
The Exact Feeling
Fireworks
The Lonely End of the Rink

...can't remember anymore, my ears are still ringing :)

I wish i could make contact with the Hip. I enjoy their music so much, and i feel bad they have to stay on a tour bus or a hotel when in town. They're the kind of band that need friends wherever they go, places to stay with friendly Canadians, wherever they might be.

So that being said, I'd like to invite The Hip up to Brentwood Bay tomorrow, Saturday, for a chill out day on my boat and head down to McKenzie Bight, a great spot to hang out, have a couple beers, and just relax on the beach. I'll bring guitars and beer and some food. My email is [email protected]. I'm going to the Sat. night show too because it is my hope that one day i will hear them perform "Are We Family" live, my absolute favorite Hip tune. Who knows, they just might play it.

All in all, a wonderfully memorable show. The only setback was the security/cops that were incredibly rough on the girl who decided to dance around topless. They kicked her in the head, then forced her face into the 90 degree angle of some concrete steps (this was during intermission). My wife, a Czech who lived most of her life in communism, absolutely freaked out and i had to try to calm her down. But Gord responded fittingly, I really appreciated that.

Back from the show.

Nothing too spectacular, I felt it was more of 'greatest hits' type gig than some of the others this tour. Only two songs I heard tonight that I hadn't heard before (other than the WATS songs) were thompson girl and thugs (and this is only my 4th show!).

The first set I believe was identical to Seattle's first set, but there were a couple changes in the second set:

The Depression Suite
In View
Gift Shop
Coffee Girl
Twist My Arm
Morning Moon
New Orleans Is Sinking
It's a Good Life...
The Exact Feeling
At the 100th Meridian
Love Is a First

Courage *
Thompson Girl *
Wheat Kings *
Nautical Disaster
The Last Recluse
Springtime in Vienna
Gus...
Thugs
At the Lonely End of the Rink
Now the Struggle...
Fireworks
Little Bones

Frozen in My Tracks
Blow at High Dough

Except I personally don't need one to cross the border!!!!! :P

Ah looks like I didn't miss too much though, apart from a great show by the sounds of it. Set list almost identical to the Seattle show.

Abbotsford here I come!!

Have the band been switching the set up enough between two nights at the same venue? I have tickets to tonight's show but if it's more of the same from last night I don't think I'll need to see them again.

Except for the new album, the nights are all different.
Check out night 1 and 2 from the Troubadour;

in the seattle show thread, there is that interview they did and the dj guy asked how they do the setlists and Gord said that they have all come up with at least one and there is 9 different setlists in rotation. interesting way of doing things.

They did "Little Bones" last night? And in Seattle too?

Great. That means they probably won't play it for tonight's show (which I have tix for). Then again, one can only hope.
