Here at the Honest Lawyer with Bonnie23. 90 minutes 'till kickoff. The house just played "Wheat Kings" to a drunken "whoo" from the bar. They have a dude here playing acoustic guitar. He leaves a little to be desired.

Setlist to follow in the thread.

Note to self....never see show one in one city and show one in the next city. Ottawa #1 and Hamilton #1 were almost exactly the same. Pretty much the same order with only 5 different songs:

Nashville
So Hard
Wheat Kings
Dark Canuck
Springtime.

Hoping Friday night is a little better.

yup did ottawa 1 but live for rare cause im hardcore tho i love the HITS

hamilton had everything for me

anudder good respectable crowd up front

password=moon.thanks for that

the dark canuck blew my head off and i am still diggin ocean and frozen

last show of the tour. spent over a thousand and got more than that back. the band has been right on.

This one is for you
and it goes on and on and on
when nothing seems to do
for when the doubtless and the wrong
ask; 'can I help you?'
in that way that says, 'I can't'
or claim we're all the same
just inconsistent
or pretend all understanding
turned out to be pretense
then pretend the pretense of understanding
How long does it take depends

You can cast your doubts
Turn em inside-out
Hang em upside-down
Til their art falls out-the short answer's; forty-eight hours
Let your heart all out-the short answer's; forty-eight hours
Til your art falls out-the short answer's; forty-eight hours
Let your heart all out
Summon up your power

If you need a good connection for drugs
Or a strong tolerance for alcohol
Too little religious education
Some pain threshold
If from the outside
There's no demand for what you do
And inside there's an army waiting
For their marching orders for you
Come sit on my swing-seat
Come sit on my porch
After Ten at night, smoke your cigarettes
if you like, of course

You can cast your doubts
Turn em inside-out
Hang em upside-down
Til their art falls out- the short answer's; forty-eight hours
Let your heart all out- the short answer's; forty-eight hours
Til their art falls out- the short answer's; forty-eight hours
Let your heart all out
Summon up all your power

And it goes on and on and on

If we ever get home
let's don't compare
let's relinquish all our holidays
and Drive-In Premieres

If we ever get home
gonna have me three children
Apple, Zippo, and Metronome
that's what I'm gonna name them

and get celebrity skin
the illusion of tough
I'm gonna talk about nothing
til nothing's enough

if we ever get home
and the subject comes up
this War isn't for children
War is nothing's enough

O' in the clouds of blood at the end of JAWS
in the misted cars honking their applause
at the Drive-In Double Feature
at the heart of dark enough
O' it's JAWS and The Dark Canuck
should we stay for The Dark Canuck?
yea.Everyone, hands up!?
Who's for 'The Dark Canuck'?

I think we relinquished enough
and it's still dark enough
and it goes on and on and on

Fantastic show, The Dark Canuck was a jaw dropper as was Music - I never dug that song too much but last night it was on fire. The floor was on their feet almost the entire show but the balconies seemed to be pretty laid back until the last few songs. We were a couple rows back from the little girl on BIGVDOGG's shoulders and it was a pretty sweet moment -hope someone caught that on vid. SHDB was absolutely mesmerizing, couldn't have asked for better delivery, and hats off to the dude that played "horse" for Gordie - I thought he was going down right at the end but he managed to deposit Gordie back on the stage quite gracefully. We were at the Danforth show as well as the 3 Kitchener shows and I think the WATS songs have gotten tighter, and the overall show is more powerful. There were a ton of tapers including one guy who follwed Gord into the crowd a couple of times so I'm looking forward to the vids. Yet another awesome night with the Hip.

There was certainly something about Gord tonight. I think (can't confirm of course), but I think his kids were in attendance with his brother. Centre stage, 6th row. I think that because I was left stage 6th row, and Gord came out to the crowd several times, he always stopped there, high fived the three boys, tusseled their hair, played around with them. Then for the encores, they made their way to front row (um, security? haha) Gord mentioned "Hey, its a school night".
Tons of crowd interaction - the little girl on the shoulders, Gord on the guy's shoulders - classic, classic moment, Gord dancing with the girl who pulled the mic out of his heart (I know her, went to high school with her).

As usual, I could have come to the show and not have Gord there, and still be blown away. Can you find a better group of musicians? tight as can be. I feel sorry for them sometimes, when Gord's out in the crowd or doing his "sleep thing" during Meridian, I think it distracts the crowd from the music. That jam during Meridian was just sick, the outro to Blow was intense. My body is still riveting.

Setlist was ok, got a first time song in So Hard, so I'm happy, here's hoping for some more gems Friday.

Not to start the rumour mill again (ok, maybe I am) but I noticed a lot of "guests" along the left side wall, especially near the end of the show - (those with passes and all). One guy had a "Avion Films" sweater on. I googled it, and found out they are a Toronto film company (although they specialize in tv commercials). Maybe Friday's show will be taped and they were scouting out logisitics? Who knows could be the wild conspiracy theory in me.

Thanks Hip for an amazing show!!!!

I believe just before ripping into Nashville he also took a few shots at Toby Keith for slapping the Dixie Chicks over the whole Bush thing. It was pretty funny!

Yeah he's been ripping Toby Keith all tour about this war stance and his ripping of the Dixie Chicks for ripping Mr. Bush.
