Re: 11/07/09: Landmark Theatre: Syracuse, New York
This show more than made up for Salamanca. Much better venue, much better crowd and you could tell the guys really appreciated it. I was a little worried when the show started with the same three songs as Salamanca -- but those fears were quickly dispatched with Good Life and a few songs later -- Locked In The Trunk of a Car.
Started out in row DD -- but moved down to F -- just to the right of the stage for the second half of the show to hang out with my friend and his wife -- he was celebrating his birthday and what a present the Hip gave him. Just an incredible experience down there -- Gordie was a few rows away from us during his journey into the crowd during Hundredth Meridian. The second half of the set list was good -- Springtime in Vienna and Last of the Unplucked Gems were the winners for me.
Back to the first set -- one of the best performances of Poets I've ever seen. The guys were just feeling it all night -- especially Rob. He was really moving last night.
This was my fourth show of the WATS tour and it's probably just behind the last Artpark show in terms of sheer enjoyment. Artpark gets the nod based on setlist.
Kramdenfan -- great to meet you too! I'm all for meeting up during the next leg of shows!

Forgot to mention how awesome it was during the Meridian rant when, after hitting on the girl in the front row and finding out the guy next to her was her Boyfriend/husband, Gord makes ammends by saying "don't worry, I'm gay"
Classic!!

Thats kinda creepy because it certainly looks like one, but I'm thinking its just lighting and shadows.LarryIrvine wrote:thanks for posting the vid...don't know if its been a long few days...starting with Thursday night at the ACC and then the Arkells in Ottawa last night, but is that a face on the background right above Gord (starting at about 0:03)?

Here is a link to the pictures I took. I got pics of the dude with the afro - the minute I saw him sit down I knew he'd get involved somehow. I also got a pic or two of the girl who started to climb on stage, then got taken down by Ricky and the security guy!

Lol. I was that dude! ..beyond an amazing show. Unreal. Almost surreal. wow. forreal. I was in Awe and will probably ever be. That 100th meridian interlude was deeeep. A remeberance to our fallen soldiers. Just Unreal.
Thanks for posting. I didn't snap any pics of that moment. Peace, Love, Grace, too.
