It is definitely common practice especially in the studio. During live performances many pro drummers use a small in ear metronome that can be set to get the initial tempo of a song. Some drummers will keep it on for the entire song; others just use it to get going.chris wrote:That's a cool setlist - don't think I've seen the bpm listed before. I jam with a lot of different musicians and the click track is an absolute must when playing with people I don't know. Even if you have an "internal clock" adrenaline alone can play havoc with the tempo of a song.
