I can understand muddy sound in an indoor venue, but outdoors?

How were the floor seats? Did beverages get cut off at 9:00 (as they did in the stands?)
The show from the floor was fantastic, we were three rows back on Paul’s side. Sound was great for Sammy and thoroughly enjoyed his set as always. Sound for the Hip was ok at first but seemed to deteriorate as the night went on. Similar set list but went expecting it so no disappointment there, I'll take a live GHs Hip show over just about any band any time. There is no doubt these guys are in a great space right now, you can tell the way they are smiling and interacting with each other on stage. As always, full of energy, pleasure to the ear, and eye candy watching Gord tear up the stage. Nice moment when Downie gives Sinclair his hat for a few bars and then recovers it to end the song. Each ticket got you 5 drinks, beer wine and spirits, they told us when we went in that originally it was intended to be no limit but they had problems getting Hamilton Fire Dept. to sign off. Food was surprisingly good and abundant, no lines any time. They had sausage, chicken, slaw, potato salad, and buns where we were but there were additional tables further down the field which we didn’t get to. They stopped the bar service at ten I believe. Crowd was fantastic on the floor, older and some of them with young kids. There were at least two manned cameras onstage recording the show. Will pst some pics soon.

 Wow, a lot of ppl commenting on the "bad boring setlist". I have in the past said that I myself get kind of bord of the same old songs, but last night was different. It was different because It was AWSOME. Yea, The new songs fit right in with the old stuff. I had row 5 on the floors center isle seats and down there the sould could not have been better, seemed like everybody was enjoying it and wanting to rush the centre isle and get to the front and dance but the security insisted on keeping it clear, which they were not able to do for the NOIS with Nautical Disaster sandwiched in there. But after that it was back to clearing the isle. It really is distracting from the concert itself when you are constantly poked and prodded by security in bright yellow jackets to move over 6 inches. I mean really, they told me its for fire safty, WTF nobody was even smoking cigarettes around us, and if some strange fire did start then panic and mayham will rule and the clear isle will be no more anyways. Back to the music. Wow it was great, song after song, it kept coming at you. Gord was fun to watch and listen to. I felt he was singing pretty good compared to the World Container show. Oh yea, I got 5 or 6 songs on video and I am uploading them to youtube today. First up, Fiddlers Green.

Great seats, Row 3 seats 3-4. Very expensive in hindsight but the money went to a good cause :thumb:

I'm sure they were just playing what they know tonight... they have a month until the full tour starts. I am willing to bet they will relearn more 'gems' during tour rehearsals.

After all of the NFPA stuff this week, I actually was surprised that they played so many "hits", but I guess they knew what this crowd was there for - I was asking a couple of girls what they thought of the new album, and they said they've never heard it, and hoped they didn't play any of it tonight.

I thought the energy was great too. And we loved Robbie's hair blowing in the wind!

Front row was pretty sweet. Always feel safe with Ricky standing in front of you.

If this setlist sticks all tour I will strongly consider skipping the Winnipeg show when the eventually come to Canada (especially if it's at the Arena and especially if tickets are $80+ as they have been the past few tours). Take note of this Hip, this is coming from someone that has been seeing your shows and buying your albums on the release date since I was 13 yrs old in 1996.
And this is why the Hip couldn't give less of a shit about this sentiment....

In Canada 95% of the people who attend Hip shows, and still attend enough to sell out almost every show they play in this country, ONLY want to hear 10 or 11 certain songs. As a result that's what will always be played in addition to a hand full from the newest album. Die hards be damned. I can guarantee the setlists will be more diverse in the States because they know the diehards will make the trip down there so there's a little appeasement, and most of the Americans in the crowd will have no idea what most of the songs are anyways.

Sounds like the show was still highly entertaining though, which most shows usually are. You can always count on the energy level being full bore.
