Finally got a setlist at the Salamanca show. Had first row almost dead center, between Gord and Gord. Too bad we didn't get 50 Mission Cap in the encore. We'll it was a good run of shows (Clifton Park, Syracuse, and Salamanca). Looking forward to 5 shows in Ontario in February.
I made it home in time to play in my 7pm beer league hockey game tonight. On the way home from the game I remembered some interesting information I heard and saw after this show. Dana (Tthip), Carolyn my wife, and I attended the " meet & greet". It was the most crowded meeting with the band I have attended. To start, there was a special VIP/High Roller "meet & greet" which lasted about 20 minutes for about 10 people in a separate side room next to the concert hall. Between 40-50 people waited outside the room for their turn to meet Robbie, Paul & Gord D. Ricky, the head of The Hip security, let 3 groups of about 15 people into the room at a time for a brief meeting with the guys until the next group came in.
Robbie and Paul were standing together and Gord was off on the other side of the small room. Small groups of people waited patiently for their chance to speak with the guys for a few moments. In our conversation with Robbie & Paul, Paul mentioned the band would be touring well into 2013. I pressed him for more details and his answers were non-commital and coy. I told him I noticed the Canadian leg of the tour was missing many large Canadian cities holding many loyal fans. His only reply was I am very perceptive. This is only my guess, but I would bet another Canadian leg will be added to this tour, possibly followed by a European tour and/or a few more US shows.
When we had a chance to meet Gord, too. I spoke with him earlier this tour and I noticed he was wearing a peculiar item the 1st time we spoke and I decided I would question him about it this time. Gord has been wearing a common blue jean jacket we have all owned after the recent shows I saw. Just above the breast pocket over his heart is a medium marble sized compass pinned to the jacket with a gold safety pin. I said, "Gord, what is this for? Why do you wear it?" He answered me emphatically saying, "Hugh, you know!" I immediately said, "To find your way home." At almost the same time Carolyn said, "To find your way ahead." Gord smiled at us and didn't say a word. I found this interesting and I thought I would share it.
6th row for this show
Thought they sounded great, as usual
Great to see them do "About this Map". Just before the show I said I would like to see them do it.
Loved the microphone rant. Did it for this show, syracuse and clifton park to varying degrees
man microphone poem
short set but I expected it as I saw them here in 2009
7 hour drive home yesterday so I'm kind of draggin' today
Loved seeing Paul sing some of Wheat Kings (sounded good). Had heard they were doing this
