Killer show, great venue, great setlist! Awesome seeing escape, lionized, rules, 50, kids, eldorado, gift shop, and greasy jungle. My buddies 10 year old nephew got Johnny's sticks, sinclairs setlist! And my buddy and I got to meet Johnny after the show. Sweet night!

May have been the 2nd best show I have ever seen out of 60 shows in 17 years. I always take written notes during the show. I had too much fun and more beers than normal. It is hard to read my notes now that I have sobered up a little and calmed down. I can't read everything I wrote. Fantastic setlist! They played 19 or 20 songs in the main set and their standard 6 song encore. Help me out if I made a mistake.

1. @ Transformation
2. Grace, too
3. Escape is at Hand...
4. Kids Don't Get It
5. MMP
6. Gift Shop
7. Steets Ahead
8. The Rules
9. (Can't read my notes).
10. Lionized
11. Poets
12. We Want To Be It
13. Eldorado
14. In View
15. (Wrote something I can't read. May have been a song or something interesting Gord did....can't tell).
15. Lookahead (I know I wrote 15 twice. That's what I did in my notes).
16. Thugs
17. Fully, Completely
18. Fire in the Hole
19. Goodnight Attawapiskat

1. 100th
2. ABAC
3. Greasy Jungle
4. Family Band
5. Bob C
6. 50 Mission Cap

Main floor GA sold out. Balcony half full. The venue rocked! Everyone singing and dancing.

So, that is the complete setlist? The "missing" songs are really just Hugh's Psychadelic Rambings?

I had the honour of getting Gord to sign a painting I did of him after the show in Detroit last night. Prints are available through my portfolio on Redbubble (link below) if anyone is interested. Thanks for having a look!

Well, after a good night's sleep, all the alcohol has left my body and I am able to recall our "Evening with The Tragically Hip" in Detroit. With a much clearer head I am able to read my hurriedly scribble notes from the show. The setlist I posted above is correct, in order and not missing any songs. As I said ealier, this was a very fun show for me, probably because I was surrounded by some great Hip fans and friends.

I was with my wife and a friend from work who saw his 1st Hip show. Also, my old friends from Brantford, ON, Jay and Lynn, who we became friends with at a previous Hip show years ago, were there too. Next to me was a woman in her 30's who drove from Flint, MI with her husband to see her 3rd Hip show, and behind me was a guy who came from Kansas City to be there. All of us were pumped up and doing Hip chants before the show.

The band was back from their scheduled touring break and looked refreshed and relaxed on stage. They played as tightly as if the tour never paused. Each member played to his strengths. Gord D gave us just the right mix of his stage presence and beautiful singing. I was impressed how great the two Gords and Paul sounded when they were harmonizing together throughout the night. Johnny led the band with his truly fierce drumming. Robbie was wearing a black jacket and pants with bright red sparkling cowboy boots. They reminded me of a manly version of the shoes from the Wizard of Oz. Gord played to the Detroit fans when at the beginning of Grace, too he shouted, "Welcome to Cobo"! A huge roar from the crowd was his response. During Gift Shop, Gord congratulated Billy Ray on being with the band 20 years and stated Billy had a crayon resume to prove it.

The setlist was top notch for me. There were no lulls and high energy flowed from the songs The Hip played. I enjoyed The Rules, and Lionized and Thugs were certainly a treat, with a fantastic encore closer in 50 Mission Cap. An old favorite which I have heard many times, Fully, Completely, was also a highlight for me. During ABAC, someone threw their bra which landed perfectly at the base of Gord's mikestand. They finished the song and Gord picked it up simply saying, "Thanks for the bra", before throwing it off stage.

I am sad knowing this may be the last show I may see on this tour. Hopefully, The Hip will add some more Canadian dates and I can make another "Hip trip" to Southern Ontario.

In addition to rolling "tape" i also took full advantage of my camera's 20x zoom and took a few pictures

Just a real solid no-frills rock show, A++ will buy again. Though I wouldn't object if the band got a little more adventurous with their lighting design.
