Welcome to Kitchener.
Best place we found a few years ago was the restaurant at the Walper Hotel on King St. Nice beer selection and fantastic coconut shrimp. It was 2 blocks from the Hip venue at that time (Centre in the Square) so quite convenient. On a side note, last time I was at the Kitchener Memorial Aud was 1977 for a KISS concert, the venue sucked for a rock show. Hope they took the huge backdrop landscape of the Queen down, which really ruined my whole adolescent perspective on Gene Simmons.

There isn't really anything walking distance. However I've heard a new bar opened up very closeby at 120 Ottawa St N, Kitchener right next door to the aud in a plaza with the Dairy Queen. I don't want to recommend this place without having the slightest idea what the name is or what type of place it is.
I think the Walper might be your safest bet.

Great show. Great seats didn't hurt. :)

Paul sang the second verse of Wheat kings solo. Sounded fantastic. Is that a thing now? Complete surprise to me. Glad to see poets, greasy. New songs came off real well.

The show was fantastic. My buddy and I were seated directly to the left of the stage (looking at the stage length-wise). Great seats to see the show, not so great to record from....although I think my video recorder threw an error during the encore break. Haven't checked, but I think I lost everything but the encore :(

Regardless, the band sounded fantastic, and I had a great time.

The Arkels sounded pretty good too (can't say I've heard them prior to tonight). I thought they started off a little weak, but really picked up momentum throughout their set.

Also nice to meet BIGVDOGG and thecompletist, and to see Dire Wolf & Thompson Girl again.

Looking forward to Friday in Guelph!

Solid show! I was listening to Twist My Arm driving up and thought that was an omen, and it was! Love watching Paul play on FITH. He gently breaks out of his shell and gets into it, still trying to stay under that calm, shy persona. Really heard the drums tonight - not sure if I've ever seen Johnny use those drum sticks with the fluffy ball thing on the end (hahaha, so not the proper term for them!) for Wheat Kings (or any song for that matter). Man Machine Poem is making its way up into my top 5 on NFPA.

Nice meeting some new hipbase folks before the show and chatting with the others.

See you in Guelph!

When the band walked out on stage, I thought Gord Downie looked like crap (as in fighting a cold/flu). If he was or wasn't it certainly didn't come through during the performance at all. It was a great show, with a decent mix of songs. I would say Greasy Jungle and Fire in the Hole were the highlights for me.
