there's me then there's you
and I could not hear it yet
from a telephone booth
I do my hungover best
and say,
"Enough about you
and your representative hell
I jump in when you do
like there's nowhere else
and then
of course
there's the dorsal fin
closing in that you can't outswim"

****SPOILER ALERT*****
DO NOT READ BELOW IF YOU WANT TO BE SURPRISED!!!!!

Sorry to ruin it, but I have top-secret information that says:
This Buffalo show will be almost exactly the same as last years Buffalo show.
But I heard they are going to put the setlist in a different order to try and confuse us!
But of course it will be good, because: "for a show to be great something has to happen" GD

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are opening? Damn, that's a nice treat for those going. If you're heading to the show, try not to miss that set! Have seen her twice in Fredericton, and both times I was blown away and had a ton of fun!

Gates at 6:00 with Grace Potter opening around 7:00 and The Hip to follow.
I thought I heard of another opener, a local band, but I may be making that up.

This is the info as I got it from @mintgreenbird & @JimCreahan. Word is that the tickets will be honoured at a make-up show.... and that's good news. What will be interesting is if they alter the first part of the setlist in the make-up show...

The Tragically Hip
Outer Harbor
Buffalo, NY
2013/07/19

Setlist:
At Transformation, Grace Too, Escape Is At Hand For The Travellin' Man, Man Machine Poem, Love Is A First, ****, Gord Rants[1], Wheat Kings[2], Scared[2]

[1] Crazy rain causes some power outage. Gord entertains crowd for 20 minutes.
[2] Gord D & Paul acoustic

Notes: Show gets called. I will pass along the details as I receive them.

**** Possible rain delay with Gord going solo acoustic... reports are spotty... (9:40pm ET)

Grace and the Nocturnals played for about 50 minutes. The sky was all clear with sunshine when they started, but dark gray clouds were rolling in by the time they were done. (They sounded great, but Grace looked like she stole one of Rush's 2112-era kimonos.)

The Hip came out about 9 p.m. I was in the front row with my family. (Thank you, obscenely drunk lady, for puking all over my 10-year-old son.) They managed to get through:
At Transformation
Grace, Too
Escape is at Hand
Man, Machine, Poem
Love is a First.

Then the skies opened up and it poured, with lightening flashing. The rain was coming in sideways towards the front of the stage at about a 45-degree angle. All the equipment was soaked, even the drum kit. The band was soaked, esp. Paul and Bobbie. They stopped the show while the crew tried to dry everything off, during which time Gord made up an a cappella song called "I love my crew." Eventually, Paul L. came back on the stage, and Gord and Paul did an acoustic Wheat Kings, followed by an acoustic Scared. The crew was working on all the other equipment during this time. Then Billie Ray came over to speak with Gord, who announced that the show was officially cancelled. There was violent lightening by this point, and as the crowd dispersed, it started to pour again (more like a monsoon). On my way out, I did hear the concert promoter state that the Hip would reschedule the show and to expect an email from Ticketmaster about that once details were worked out.

We've had almost an entire week of sunshine and 90+ degree days. Too bad Mother Nature couldn't hold off another few hours....

got soaked like everyone else. I came up from Maryland for the show, and all I could do was laugh. No point in getting pissed at something out of your control. It will be something my friends and I will talk about for years to come. They absolutely made the right decision - the lightning was getting very scary down there. Gord's ad-libbing after they stopped was hilarious.
