Anxious to see the set list tonight (regarding non-FC songs). Seeing them in Cleveland Friday. If anybody can steer me in the right direction, would be much appreciated.

As soon as we know it, I`ll edit the first post of this thread.

This was a great show. Crowd was into it- seemed like Gord was giving karaoke lessons at times.

They definitely stuck to the way the songs were 'supposed' to sound on the albums, with only a few variations. Might have been nice to hear some history or introduction to the songs, haha. Highlight was Escape... and Blow at the end was killer.

No, it was definitely a different set.

The list itself (I've got one, but I'm still sorting through my photos so I'll come back and post them later) reads:

Grace
M@W
Escape
In View
NOIS
--- FC, in order ---
At Transformation
Twist My Arm
We Wanna Be It
Poets
Blow

But I know they did Drip in the final five somewhere -- maybe instead of We Wanna Be It? As usual, I wasn't paying close attention to the setlist so I could report back, but tomorrow I'll keep better track. I thought it was a pretty good show, although I dislike the HoB intensely and it's weird to see Gord basically sweat-free (I know he's been this way for a few years, but it won't stop being weird). I also didn't like the screens in front of the band. It might have been okay if I'd been farther back, but from the front I couldn't see what was on them, and I also couldn't really see the band behind them very well. Escape, Lionized, Wherewithal and FC itself were the highlights for me. Looking forward to doing it again tomorrow!

Okay, photos here. I had my phone tonight, so I only got a few good shots, and they're mostly Gord. I tried to get a few of the other guys, but once I zoom with my phone everything is terrible. I might try taking my real camera tomorrow, but we'll see. I don't know what I'd do with it if they didn't let me in with it, so it's risky.

Nice photos... I thought they turned out great... Funny how they write out the album part of the setlist... better safe than sorry, eh?

Enjoy tomorrow!

I just wanted to let the moderators of the site know that they don't have the St. John's, NL show up as a thread on the reviews section.

The marque above the ticket box office at the HOB Chicago stated both Tragically Hip shows at the venue were sold out. At 8 pm CST the show began with a DJ set which lasted until 8:50pm. Promptly at 9pm The Hip where on stage for exactly 30 minutes as they played the first 5 songs listed above. TTH opened with Grace, Too. The wooden dance floor in front of the stage suddenly began to undulate like a small wave pool as the fans bounced to the beat. After this half hour introduction, a see through mesh screen came down and The Hip left the dark stage for 3 minutes before returning to play Fully, Completely in order. Throughout the show images were broadcast behind the band which seemed to be timed and related to the song being played. For instance, images of Bill Barilko playing hockey were shown during 50 Mission Cap and David Milgaard was shown being released from prison during Wheat Kings. More abstract images appeared during most of the show. As Catechism mentioned, there were 3 large mesh screens with a small space between each of them which came up and down as planned. Sometimes the mesh screen obscured the whole band during a song, while images played out in front of and behind the band. At other times the screen stopped just above there heads. I was fourth row center and being so close made it hard for me to get the full effect. Catechism is right when he says it was distracting at times not being able to see the band directly. Being near the back of the main floor GA or in the balcony would have been the best places to see these visual effects.

The HIp played straight through each song with little variation from the album cuts. Little to no vocal banter from Gord D. I did notice a few tempo changes in 2 or 3 songs which were planned and practiced by the band and not due to Gordie varying the lyric delivery. These tempo changes were small and might not be noticed by the casual fan, but the changes seemed to emphasize the visual effects on the screen. At 10:20pm The Hip had finished Fully, Completely. A five minute encore break followed.

The band returned for their final 20 minute set of high energy rock. Twist My Arm and Poets blew me away! The crowd was frenzied as The Hip finished with Blow at High Dough. I am looking forward to tonight's show. I have already made plans to meet up with other die hard Hip fans tonight who will be enjoying two nights of The Hip, also.

Ha, yes! I always forget that's what it's actually called. At least I got the placement right! :)

That's kind of a lame setlist. I was certain we'd get some better variety (aside from the FC set) but it looks just the way the last two tours did. A set staple of songs with one rarity mixed in rotation. I know it's only two shows in so we'll see if things evolve at all. But so far it looks like it's gonna be like this:

Grace
Music
Escape
View
(Rotating hit)
*FC*
(NFPA song)
(Rotating Rarity)
(NFPA song)
Poets
(Rotating hit closer)

A little boring IMO. Mix up the whole order or something. We really shouldn't hear anything from WC, WATS or NFPA (and I love these albums) as they aren't as interesting to the audience and we've heard them 100 times in the last six years. I know it'll still be fun regardless but some variety is so overdue. Fortunately hearing a lot of rarely played FC tunes will be epic.
