Future of the Hipbase

Post by mrlayance »

I have a question for the hipbase faithful after almost 10 years.

What do want to see the direction the hipbase should take?

Eg. Continue the course and be a forum only site (move to a new forum type).

Guest bloggers maybe? Focus on other great Canadian band but still keeping the roots of the hip?

Not sure what everyone wants to do?
I need 2 Kingston Tickets, please help.

Don't worry about including other bands. There's more than enough resources out there for Canadian music. I think the beauty of this sight has always been it's dedication and passion towards one band. This is not a forum for record-collecting completists, but fans who want to share a passion that, perhaps before this forum, they thought only they had.

I say maintain the focus of this site as a forum.

I know it's been slow for a while here...but things will certainly pick up when the new album hits and a full tour is launched. Expanding the blogging could be a way to go. Perhaps devote it to Canadian music more broadly while holding onto the roots of The Hip? Just some thoughts.

Keep up the good work and stay on course! :thumb:

Unless you can have the new album out sooner.
want to be a nobody without peer
want to be a thought that's never done
want to shake your faith in human nature
want to break the hearts of everyone
want to be your wheezing screen door
want to be your stars of Algonquin
want to be your roaring floorboard
want to break the hearts of everyone

Stay the course, and thanks for your efforts! This is an excellent format, and things will pick up again as we get closer to the next album release.

Go forum-only. Drop the blog and make maintenance much simpler. That's my $0.02 — lots of lurkers still methinks. Posting will pick up with the next album. As it always does.

Drop the blog. Keep the site dedicated to the hip. The more hip stuff on the site, the better. Keep in mind that it should be "The Tragically Hip Database".
Information is key. All articles written on the hip should be archived here.
In addition, I'd snap up all of the other great online hip ideas on fan websites and merge them onto this site.
EX: acquire:
The museum after dark, the Tragically Hip lyric map site, etc...
The more value add items in one place (the hipbase) would be the go-to hip site.
Maybe then someday, the exit strategy for the hipbase would be to sell the online assets to www.thehip.com.

I like the forum. I get more info on all things Hip here than I ever would have found on my own. Great head's ups on concert rumours (and they're often true), great advice on passwords or commiserating on the crap luck when tickets go on sale, and the concert reviews are fun to read too.

It's a nice (somewhat organized) free-for-all, where any and all Hip (and other band) info is provided. It's this site alone that's upped my show numbers though.

Keep it as it is. As a UK fan it's pretty good to see what you lot are up to in the 'non-hip' departments and things will pick up again when the next album is released.

I miss the enthusiasm as well. Difficult to keep pumped now since the Hip put out fewer albums with longer waiting periods in between them!

I'm sure that things will liven up when the new album hits...

but at the same time, i think messageboards everywhere are dying, damn twitter i guess, idk, i don't participate in any of that or facebook or anything, so don't blame me!

If you must, you are welcome to blame me for not posting here at all in forever, which in turn has made the place boring
