Hi all,

I'm Matt, I just registered for HipBase recently after becoming completely obsessed with the Hip this year.

My first memory of TTH would be my uncle telling me about this amazing live performance he saw a band called The Tragically Hip give, probably sometime in the early-mid 2000s (I was probably 15sh), but specifically RAVING about a song called "Nautical Disaster"...I looked it up at the time and found the Live Between Us version, and ended up also discovering that I loved Ahead By a Century and Blow at High Dough as I poked around the album. I didn't really "get" ND at the time even though I could tell it was a powerful song.

Fast forward these 15 years later...I've always kept up with the Hip and wanted to see them live, but the shows evaded me over the years and I never made it. When I heard the news about Gord, I started intensely following setlists and video updates every night of the last tour. It helped me discover so many great Hip songs I didn't even know about. Now, when I listen to Nautical Disaster, it's an emotional experience every single time. Can't even describe that pang I get in my heart every time I hear "Those fingernails...."

Just wanted to introduce myself and gush a little bit about falling in love with the band, because here in Chicago, people obviously know who they are but it's hard to happen across someone who's still so crazy about them. This place seems like the perfect place to hang out for that :)

See you around!

I really became a focused fan about 15 years ago, and ND is my favourite song too. This is a cool place. Welcome aboard.

It was 20 years from first hearing them before I saw them for the first time! OMG I hate saying numbers that big when it comes to years! Cold Lake, AB in 2013. Was a lifelong dream come true.

Hi everyone, long time Hip fan and stumbled upon the message board and had to join! From what I've seen already its a great source of information and stories. My most recent show was August 12th in Toronto (#2). So great to be able to witness it.

Hi All,

My name is Manami. I'm living in Toronto and originally from Japan. I'm an immigrant and English is my 2nd language.
Some of you may have known me or met me already. Ms V invited me here today. Probably she wants to have my black skeleton Hip long-sleeve tee which is too large for me! LOL

I went to 5 Hip shows + 1 Secret Path in 2016. London, all of Toronto and Hamilton. Toronto #3 was with Rob Ferreira, all others were solo. Couldn't score Kingston ticket unfortunately, so I spent the night at the public viewing on Bolton St in downtown Bobcaygeon on Aug 20 with a core Hip fan who was an admin for the fundraising party held before all of Toronto shows. 8)

Hopefully I can meet some of you guys probably at Kasador shows, The Strictly Hip shows or CFG events soon!

I'm Adam from Saint John.
Not sure why I couldn't access my old account, but I was originally a member years and years ago.
See The Hip a bunch of times, can't wait to watch the documentary when I get the chance to.
