thanks guys!-- it's nice to get feedback for a change--positive or otherwise--things i missed after having a day to remember--would just be to re emphasize how tight the musicianship was on every song, and how loud --i could go on about several songs just rocking harder than ever..like "nois" or poets--or the two fools who jumped onstage during blow at high dough-----dumbasses--or my complete lack of surprise at the thong of canadians---how the place was empty at first and then got packed!--and these people who had waited til the last to go to the front--only to find me holding my ground --hands on the stage for 4 hours straight--see thats why you get here----------------- first---okay? no offense and maybe you drove from moosejaw or whatever but unless you're dyin of cancer and have the papers to prove it.----------- i'm not tradin any real estate with you pal.---okay,okay --- 5 foot tall brunette w/cute "agent scully"haircutperfect teeth and glasses who "just wants a setlist" you can squeeze in...stand next to "lauren the talldrunk brunette with perfect teeth who wants a setlist but doesn't need one"I get one every year!"-----yep --she got the setlist--------or the single guy who read the "chekov" pocketsize book while in line and threw it to gordie after the show-------dude just wear a sign that says im gay, but unavailable because im in love with 4 out of 5 members of this band---(pauls a little scraggily --but i'm sure he likes it that way)--- and lastly------ WHO---- ARE____you rude ass people! at the end of the night who have just dropped your beercups --(all over the place !) dude wtf--!!how are you just standing there and decide --uh ok--this is a good spot to drop my beer cup-----anyway***** great great show!!!This band must get the world wide recognition they deserve---what hard working honest musicianshipand songcraft is all about. easily in the top 20 rock and roll bands "of all time"--- -- think about that list for a second folks it's exclusive company and pretty hard to make the cut.-----so rock on tragically hip I'm tellin everybody who'll listen.

It's a little digital Sony 5.1 pixel Cyber-shot..
It's tiny and I can get in close..I like the shape, because
it lends itself for doing vertical shots, which I prefer.

I use the Night setting, and like I said, but a little bit of scotch tape over
the flash, that tends to diffuse the flash, and i dont think it bugs the performers too much. Use the preview LCD on the back, and hold the camera us high as you can..
Sounds like the same camera I've got, except mine's a 5.0 MP. Anyway, thanks for the tips. Those pictures turned out nice. The shows I'm going to in Nov. will be the first concert I've been to yet with the digital so I'm looking forward to the results. :thumb:

I finally have some time to post a review of the Asheville show. I bought our tickets back in September. My wife(identified as Agent Scully in an earlier post) and I last saw the Hip in Chicago in July of '02, so we were stoked for this show, over two years later. Scully, actually a third grade teacher got home at around 4:15 pm and we packed our final items for our overnight stay in Asheville. We live near Charlotte so we had a two hour drive ahead of us. We had IBE in the CD player to brush up on the lyrics, and then went in the Live Series Vol. 1. We finally arrived at the hotel, the Biltmore Best Western. While leaving our room to go to dinner, we spotted a guy in some type of t shirt that had Ottawa on it, so I knew we were'nt the only ones there for the Hip. We also saw an older couple in the lobby and the lady was wearing a Hip T shirt. Scully and I joked that we had just seen ourselves in 15 years. That brings me to another observation. This is my first Hip show that I felt like an old fart. I'm 33, and at the show it seemed that the majority of people were probably around 22-25 years old. Or maybe it was just the Canadian guys up front. We stumbled upon a cool little place to eat almost right across the street from the Orange Peel, I think it was called Barleys. Cool brew pub in an old building. We ordred a pizza, and was pleasantly surprised that the food was really good, and even though the place was slammed, our waitress was always around, so she got a good tip. After we finished eating we had about an hour before the doors opened for the show. We wnt back to the truck(had a 12 pack on ice) and had a few beers while standing outside in the cool weather listening to the live Vol. 1 disc. We got to talking with a girl who said she was originally from Kingston, and now lives in N.C. She said she saw the Hip back in the '80's in small clubs around Kingston, and had not seen them since. We finally made our way to the club. Cool venue, very long bar. The merchandise table was right up front as we walked in. I usually don't buy t shirts but aside from the expected shirts with IBE art on them, they had one that I thought was really cool. Its a gray t shirt wth a little logo on the front that says "The Tragically Hips All Canadian Surf Club Est. 1987" There is a larger print on the back of the shirt, so I bought two, one for my sister. Shortly after, Sam Roberts started. These guys are really good. No one in the audience tried to start the "Hip Hip Hip" chant between their songs. The Canadian hockey jersey guys seemed familiar with their material. I'll have to see if I can pick up their CD. We had a really good spot right up front, not at the stage but close. The Hip opened wth Vaccination Scar, and it was the beginning of a great set. By now you have all seen it so I don't have to repeat it. The guys sounded great. It seems that at our last show in Chicago, and this one, they seem to be more energetic and enthusiastic and it comes out in the music. Can't put my finger on it, but something is different from the shows seen prior to IVL. After I returned from a trip to the bar, my wife, Scully, was right up front at the stage. I'm pretty sure daysleeperchuk was the one who let her squeeze in. Thanks alot man, that was very nice of you. She is short. At the Chicago show, we were a few rows back and she couldn't really see. She really appreciated that even if she didn't get a setlist...So close though. The highligts in the set for me were IOD and Escape. I thought the sound was really good, and every song was tight. Solid show, I hope a boot is available, or better yet they release this one to download. I thought the crowd was really great too. Everyone was was friendly and pretty mellow, and just there for the music. The Canadian guys were cool, I talked to one, and he said they had driven 14 hours from Ottawa. Thats hardcore I thought. There was one guy wrapped in the Canadian flag, but everything was cool. That is until the guy in the white shirt with the red maple leaf on it jumped up on the stage. I read in previous posts that there were two guys that jumped up onstage, but I only saw one. He was quickly escorted off. I guess it was because of them that we didn't get the complete encore. I was looking forward to Little Bones. Oh well. It was a great night. We tried hanging around afterword to meet the guys, but we were so damn tired(i guess we are old farts)we just went back to the hotel and went to bed. Hopefully this will be like the PP tour and they will make two stops here in N.C.

Asheville is an excellent little city. Always have cool music rolling through town. The Orange Peel has hosted some of the best acts in music. G Love & Special Sauce, Matisyahu, The Hip, Mastodon....quite a variety.
This was a great show. Met a friend who lives in Nashville,TN. Well worth the drive for both of us. Seeing this show was the only thing that distracted me from having to watch the Red Sux win the series!!!(Yankees fan!) You are right- Canadians are tall!!!!!
