This is a great show. Would love to know how this SBD made it out into the world. I've heard that, at least for a period of time, there were board recordings for every show. Oh to see those archives opened up....
The show itself:
* Love the few references to the empty balcony.
* Fireworks as an opener -- don't think I ever saw that, but it's a good choice. Also funny to see a set list with no Grace, Blow, or NOIS. I'm trying to recall PP shows I saw and if that was the case.
* Like the little bit of Nick Drake's Pink Moon (off memory, at the end of ABAC). He's an artist that I know, but have never spent a lot of time listening to and he is very influential on many musicians I really like. Will need to check out some Nick Drake.
* It's always funny to go back and hear older shows and the references -- a few good Bill Clinton lines, with impeachment just around the corner
* Nautical has a great closing rant. I was trying to catch lines and see if they worked their way into future lyrics. There's a bit of The Completist in there with some different words (you will struggle, the cease to struggle)
* Blackflies and Every Irrelevance in 100th is pretty cool -- I always liked how they did "if I die" in this era and continuing to M2W tour when they sometimes continued jamming over Gord's vocal, then the break at the end of the section, back to the tune
* Love Vapour Trails -- was glad to see them break it out FC tour in Vermont, and amazingly would have seen the last time played in 2004 (11 years between plays)
* I forgot that Milwaukee has a larger German population -- wondered what Gord was talking about for awhile in some of those accented intros
Overall, one of the main topics of discussion on the FC and MMP tours was how good Gord was singing. Man, this show is a top notch vocal performance. What sounds like a straight from board release really puts his vocals at the top of the mix. The Luxury is a great performance, one for the ages.
Amazing choice for the bootleg club, would love to see more shows of this quality surface.

I heard a rumour that this show was sent to friends and family as part of a Christmas Card in 98 or 99.edgoffin wrote:This is a great show. Would love to know how this SBD made it out into the world.

I'll have to get on that family and friends Christmas card list. I'm always optimistic that more shows will appear as part of the live vault series. This comment goes way back, but I recall in an interview in their earlier days the question was about constant improvement and the band member (can't recall who) said they had a SBD copy of all the shows and would listen on the drive to the next venue.sean.bonner wrote:I heard a rumour that this show was sent to friends and family as part of a Christmas Card in 98 or 99.edgoffin wrote:This is a great show. Fantastick pick for volume 3.
Twist my arm "theres no one in the balcony!
Win me, win me, win me"
Abac interpolation of Nick Drake - Pink Moon. I was curious if this appears out of tribute/admiration or because the song was on a car commercial I remember from that era. Googled the commercial and it debuted on Nov 11, 1999
"You are so something on, its just incredible. go state, go state GO STATE something on .. its you and you"
I love the non chalance into enthusiasm here. Cant help but wonder if a college logo clad audience member in the crowd inspired that intro
Every irrelevance hundredth meridian set closer was amazing, as was on the verge. Will remember the bootleg club if the christmas card story is confirmed one day

I only discovered this gem when I joined this forum a few weeks ago. This is an absolutely fantastic bootleg. Could have been a Hip Live Series or Live From the Vault release - similair quality.
Stunning! Any more gems that needs to be discovered? Thanks!

This month's bootleg from Tucson 91 is great quality and an excellent selection IMO
