Hello,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I have been 'lurking' and reading posts for a while now, but figured it was time I jumped in!

Was directed to The Hip many years ago by some Canadian friends and have been enjoying them ever since.

Never seen them live - I don't think they have ever toured New Zealand (and I have never had the money to go overseas to see the band!) - but have played the live album a lot!!! (" . . . I enjoy them vicariously . . .")

Anyway, I look forward to being a part of this community.

Cheers,
Colin

Good to see someone from the southern hemisphere on here. Where abouts is Tauranga located? North or South Island. I don't have my map handy. ;)

I was just down there a few weeks ago for some business and a bit of sight seeing. Beautiful country there. :thumb:

Thank you for your kind welcomes. :D

Tauranga is in the North Island, right on the east coast. Beautiful surf beaches on one side of the city and a bush-clad mountain range on the other. (Not surprising this region is one of the fatest growing in the country.) And given the sun is shining brightly I might just cut off from work early today . . .

Hey, Doctor, welcome to the board! My mother just took two weeks in New Zealand (one for work and one for vacation) and her pictures were ASTONISHING. She was on the north island and, well, it's just about the most beautiful place I've ever seen. Might even have to make my own way there one day!

You guys have great music too. Do you know of Jeff Lang or the John Butler Trio? I have live albums by both and they're fantastic.

Good morning,

Seems lots of visitors have positive comments about NZ and its landscapes. I have to admit to a degree of ignorance - I have never really been to the South Island of this fine country! Apart from a few brief trips - fly in, fly out - I have never had the money or the time to get there. Lame excuses I know! (And given the poor way my kids travel, I may not get south in the near future!!!) Still, I can vouch for the beauty of the North Island.
