Howdy Hipbase! My Name is Tim. I am 36 and I live in Olympia Washington. I turned on to the Hip when Up To Here came out. I first saw them play at Buffalo State back in 1990. I moved to Seattle soon after to chase after the love of my life Annie. By the time I saw the Hip again at small Seattle club in 91, Annie and I were preggers with our son Quinn. For me the Tragically Hip have always been a very personal thing. When I was a kid I went to Ontario Pionear camp ever summer and fell in love with the Canadian culture and her people. The Hip tap into that place in my heart. I often go to the shows alone but find myself embraced by the crowed and the music in a way that most people can't understand. I know I'm a little old to be so wraped up in a rock band but for me it's a part of who I am. I find myself counting the days untill my next Hip show like a kid waiting for Christmass. Maybe I'll bring Annie and Quinn along next time the Hip come through, but then again maybe not. After all they are MY band!

Greetings All...
Even though I registered here years ago, I never bothered to check out this forum, which is so unlike me as I like to peruse the message boards of favourite bands of mine (some of which would include Rush, King's X, The Flaming Lips, among others). Better late than never, I suppose.
My name is Dave and I hail from the 'burbs of St. Louis, MO, a rather "un-Hip" area of the country. I discovered the band when they opened for Page & Plant back in '95, having never heard a lick of their music, and immediately fell in love. They played here a few more times at small clubs, packing out the place every time, but for whatever reason haven't been back since the Phantom Power Tour (late 1998). I've taken a couple road trips the past two tours to see them in Chicago (I won't be able to go the New Year's Eve show, however...too expensive!).
While I haven't been active in it for awhile now, I did at one time take on the task of tracking down Bill Barilko hockey cards and offering them to fellow Hip fans (ever been to this webpage - http://home.i1.net/~bytor/barilko.html ) For a couple years there, I was able to find and distribute probably 100-150 cards or so, but then the well ran dry (not to mention word getting around in the card industry, thus jacking the price up). Still, they're found rather easily on Ebay at mostly cheap prices.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself, and now I guess I'll take a look around, eh? By the way, love the new album!

Hello everybody....
As you can see, my name is Jayne, I live on Vancouver Island and I manage the shipping dept for a large electronics company. We just saw the boys on Jan 7, here in Victoria at the Save on Center, and let me tell you they blew my mind! My favorite song is Fiddler's Green and they played it, what a treat! And Gordie was in fine form, we were close enough to see his face, you could tell he was having as much fun as we were! I have seen the Hip many times, but I will say this show was tops for me. I could never get tired of those boys!

Greetings everyone! I'm Doug, 27 from Winnipeg, and I'm a perpetual student.
I have to say, after coming across this site, it's quite impressive! I especially like the concert tracker, that's quality.
Anyway, I always have thought the best way to get to know someone is to talk to them, not to read their scripted "about me" so anything people may or may not want to know about me, feel free to ask! Or not to ask.

Hi guys and gals , names Jay and my wifes name is Tama , just signed on and havent figured things out yet but Im glad to be here. We are living in the soo as it sits but are wanting to move to barrie this year sometime. Got the chance to meet the band and watch over sound check for the soo show at the steelback and had front row seats. The show was amazing but doubt the hip will be back due to crowd particapation and the lack of 600 seats being with a ass in them. It was really sad to be honest , but the hip did their jobs and I was 1000% entertained. Id love to work something out for a copy of the show if anyone has it. I know im new and all but it would really mean alot to me and the wife and my six month old son who enjoyed the show intensively from inside the his moms belly lol

Hi, I'm Emma, I've been a member here since last July, but this is my first post (please be gentle). I live in Portsmouth, UK and I got into The Hip early last year by accident when I came across New Orleans Is Sinking... I played it to my partner (MattyM) and he initially said it was "okay, not bad but nothing too special". After that I got some more tracks and started to really get into the band, for my birthday in May, Matt got me In Violet Light on CD and two tickets to see the Hip in London. After seeing them live he was finally a convert and he's been posting on here and buying up albums ever since... and finally he's convinced me to post too!
