Ben, weren't you asking for "Escape" at this one?

This band is becoming eerily Big Brother-esque...

Yep, I had everything crossed to hear 'Escape...' at some point, and I'd been mentioning All day to the guys how I was really hoping they'd play it in Belgium - and do you know what happened?...

THEY SKIPPED IT!!!

Yep, that's right. They went off, and came back on went straight into Family Band and Blow, and then left again. I thought, "That's weird, they only did a two song encore" but it wasn't until I got down onto the floor again (I'd been taping up on the balcony) that BigA and markslog told me that Escape had been on the setlist, but not played. Gutted does not even come close to how I felt. But, I guess you can't win them all.

Oh, and the guy hanging off the balcony waving his flag for most of the show was damn annoying...

(Bitching over I promise - It was still a great performance from the band :thumb:)

THEY SKIPPED IT!!!
Sorry for your loss Ben. That really blows! (no pun intended)
I guess when the setlists get posted on thehip.com it is taken right off the paper and not from first hand account.

I wonder why they cut the encore short? Better luck next concert. I'm sure they still put on a great show.

Thanks, I'm sure I'll be over it by about 2009. ;)

Anyway, I'm home now, and exhausted from travelling (I've been in three countries today. 8) ) I have a massive backlog of photos to work through - but for starters, here's a few from the Brussels show...

Here are some pics from Brussels - I used pics from this Flickr user on a DVD title screen last year and he emailed me to say he had new pics ready for use this year!

Good show, but I was hoping for something a little less generic in terms of setlists. Nonetheless, this was my first show since 2002 and it was nice to see them in Europe. I've posted a few pics at 'Hipography' under 'Jason Gagnon'.

Also, it was nice to meet a few of you before and after the show. Sure wish I had made it to Koln (or Eindhoven --> Thugs!). Perhaps we'll meet again at Eurohip08 or 09...

Jay.

The venue was very modern.
It had all the bells and whistles.
The light show was very intense here.
Tons of toys for the crew to work with.
2500 capacity.

Band was spot-on. The setlist was good.
Too bad about Escape Ben.
I think they were told to cut things short on this night.
(2 song encore versus the standard 3)
