K, know this cannot be the case....but the Hip's FB page lists them as playing Ottawa Bluesfest on both July 4 and July 11. The former must be a mistake as the hit the Bell Stage at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 11. Nowhere else, includ Hip's page or Bluesfest page that they are playing two dates...
Clarification please .....

My best bet would be that the reason it's there twice is because the festival starts on July 4th. If you look at the other bands under the Hip's name on the 4th (ie. weezer), they're also not scheduled to play on the 4th. Plus the title of the event is slightly different for both dates. They're definelty playing on the 11th.

Yep, the 11th it is. I'm heading up the night before... although I'm going up for Rush on the 8th, I can't stay up for the week and have to make 2 separate trips. Poor life choices.
I can't wait for a Hip festival show, it's been years for me (okay, 2). Hope they pull out some oldies. I want to hear Springtime in Vienna live again, and IOD.

Has it been years since you've read the setlist for one of their festival shows too? I wouldn't hold your breath for those two.carebread wrote:I can't wait for a Hip festival show, it's been years for me (okay, 2). Hope they pull out some oldies. Hey, I got Springtime once. It's not going to happen, but I can dream!Scotty12 wrote:Has it been years since you've read the setlist for one of their festival shows too? I've seen them all four times they've played bluesfest and the only thing they've played any of those times that would count as a rarity was playing 'queen bitch' with Bob Rock in 2008. Or maybe the NOIS>>>Nautical Disaster>>>NOIS thing last time. Otherwise, it's the hits and a few new songs. I'd expect the same this time.

So I decided to look up set times of the two bands I'm going to see, and wtf:
Rush: 2.5 hour set
Hip: 1 hour set
...glad I'm booking days off work for this, guys. And their stage is empty for 1.5 hours beforehand.

Rush is the only band at the entire even that plays that long. You just can't ask Rush to play a shorter set hahacarebread wrote:So I decided to look up set times of the two bands I'm going to see, and wtf:

Just saw Rush at Copps, almost 3 hour set (with a short intermission). First set was songs post Moving Pictures, second set was Clockwork Angels almost in its entirety (with string section), and the encore was about half of 2112. Brilliant. Walked out felling money well spent.emperor penguin wrote:Rush is the only band at the entire even that plays that long. There are two stages beside each other, so something is going on in the main section constantly. LP is playing the claridge stage from 8-9, and given they've been fiddling with set times all week, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Hip go on at 9.

Caught them the other night here at Bluesfest. Incredible show, definitely worth the money.thebends wrote:Just saw Rush at Copps, almost 3 hour set (with a short intermission).
